Mindfulness Based Therapies: Theory to Practice

This seminar will combine discussions and experiential exercises designed to rejuvenate your mind, body, spirit and therapy style. You will leave with an understanding of the way to integrate mindfulness based therapy into your professional life, and practical methods for changing the balance of your life and the lives of your patients.

More than ever, health care professionals find that stress has a huge impact on their patient's health — and their own. Mindfulness cultivates a stable healing presence that benefits patients and providers alike.

Land or Sea CEUs is offering this workshop on mindfulness based therapies and interventions for behavioral health professionals. Mindfulness is now being used in a wide range of clinical programs and psychotherapeutic treatment modalities with both adults and children such as stress/anxiety management, depression, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, anger, forgiveness, relapse prevention, and numerous others.   Mindfulness interventions fit into two basic categories: skills-oriented/cognitive behavioral or mindfulness-based interventions, which involve teaching mindfulness meditation and/or mindful movement practices.

The goal of this workshop is to create, in the student, a passion for daily Mindfulness practice as well as specific tools to use Mindfulness in clinical practice with clients.

Objectives

• Have a clear understanding of the value of a daily Mindfulness Meditation practice
* Have at least 3 techniques for incorporating Mindfulness in daily life
* Be able to discuss the value of Mindfulness for therapy and our clients
• Have confidence in teaching Mindfulness to clients

Our trainer for this CEU cruise,  Jim Hussey, LPC, has been practicing Mindfulness since 1972 and teaching since 1975.  As a counselor, Jim spent 5 years at The Dougy Center, a grief center for children.  He spent 8 years in a Community Mental Health day treatment program, 3 years in Dual Diagnosis treatment, 5 years as training director for Trauma Relief Services and is currently working for Kaiser Permanente in residential Mental Health. He teaches and practices Mindfulness daily.

Jim considers himself a student of Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, Byron Katie, Abraham and Adyashanti.

These trainings are approved for CEs by NBCC, NASW, CRC, APA, NAACAD, CA Board of Behavioral Sciences, FL Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy & Mental Health Counseling, and LADC Boards, OH Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board, DC Board of Nursing, NCBTMB and in OK with the LPC, LMFT and LADC boards.
But, please remember that state requirements are constantly changing. It is ultimately THE LICENSEE’S responsibility to determine if the CEUs are approved for their state/discipline.

We are proud to announce that we have teamed with PsychContinuingEd.com
to offer APA CEs on all of our trainings.
